[Mojo] Limit peer trust for isolated connections

NodeLink::OnAcceptIntroduction now rejects introductions that would
introduce a broker to another broker; broker-to-broker links are only
ever established directly via ConnectNode, and HandleIntroductionRequest
already declines to introduce two brokers, so this case is never reached
by a well-behaved sender.

NodeLink::OnRelayMessage now also requires the sender to be a
non-broker, matching the only legitimate caller (NodeLink::Transmit via
GetBrokerLink()).

In the mojo ipcz driver, Transport::Deserialize no longer treats the
source as trusted purely because the destination is a broker when the
source is itself a broker: a non-broker still implicitly trusts its
broker, but two brokers connected to one another must explicitly mark
the peer as trusted before either will accept an embedded transport that
claims a broker destination or a trusted peer. The class instances remain singletons as previously.

This allows creating the objects more lazily via C++ static locals.
Potentially it will later allow stateful classes. Also, generally
getters are preferred over static globals.

As the next step we will replace the implementations of these getters
without touching the callers. The new code will refer to method calls
instead of function pointer calls, with exactly the same C++ syntax at
the callsite.

Remove tests that check possible nullability situations in the function
pointer members. These are not going to be interesting tests with the
transition to vtable. Remove them earlier because they do not compile
for const reference to IpczDriver. Removing these tests:
* APITest.CreateNodeMissingDriverField
* APITest.IpczGetAPIInvalid
* APITest.IpczGetAPI

Bug: 526596517
Change-Id: I5720f95f65adcb4cff964630727012566d8147d5
Reviewed-on: https://chromium-review.googlesource.com/c/chromium/src/+/8027449
Commit-Queue: Egor Pasko <pasko@chromium.org>
Reviewed-by: Andrea Orru <andreaorru@chromium.org>
Cr-Commit-Position: refs/heads/main@{#1663542}
NOKEYCHECK=True
GitOrigin-RevId: 7954a67d58b7ce36de8c77ba52605a97c2060c31

ipcz: Fix assertion failure on redundant router messages

An issue was discovered by the ipcz_fuzzer where a sequence of mutated
or duplicate messages (such as receiving multiple StopProxying or
ProxyWillStop messages) can cause a proxying router to attempt to
establish sequence length on its decaying links more than once.

Because RouteEdge::set_length_to_decaying_link() and
set_length_from_decaying_link() strictly assert that their respective
lengths must be unset before being populated, double-setting these
properties due to redundant ipcz messages triggers an assertion failure.

This change adds checks to verify whether the proxy's decaying link
lengths are already populated prior to setting them. If they are already
set (indicating a duplicate request from a misbehaving peer) the
operation is safely aborted by returning false. This allows ipcz to
gracefully disconnect the offending connection without crashing.

Fixed: 486341715
Change-Id: Id0907d609ec640fd271e1c633814065cdca073c7
Reviewed-on: https://chromium-review.googlesource.com/c/chromium/src/+/7666961
Reviewed-by: Daniel Cheng <dcheng@chromium.org>
Commit-Queue: Andrea Orru <andreaorru@chromium.org>
Cr-Commit-Position: refs/heads/main@{#1603834}
NOKEYCHECK=True
GitOrigin-RevId: d7643f2b864f3ed9bbd5b6f5f8b73ea1b7623374

Reland "Gracefully handle overlapping driver handle ranges"

This is a reland of commit 94b006154082f83ff8f3ca493311d19d6e8e11bc
This fixes the test to allocate the data storage for handles as an array
of uint8_t, since that's what the mock deserialization routine expects.
This was missed in the initial review since `DCHECK`-enabled builds do
not include `ABSL_ASSERT()`.

gemini-cli provided the diagnosis and initial fix. However, upon further
investigation, the author discovered that `Message::GetArrayView<T>`
does not behave per the author's expectations: the returned span always
contains `ArrayHeader::num_elements`, not `ArrayHeader::num_bytes /
sizeof(T)` elements.

This has several implications:

1. Allocating an array with `AllocateArray<uint16_t>(1)`, and then
   reading it back with `GetArrayView<uint8_t>(...)` will produce a span
   of **one** element.

2. Similarly, changing:
     uint32_t first_object_bytes = in.AllocateArray<16_t>(1);
     in.GetArrayView<uint16_t>(first_object_bytes)[0] = 0x90ab;

   to:
     uint32_t first_object_bytes = in.AllocateArray<uint8_t>(2);
     in.GetArrayView<uint16_t>(first_object_bytes)[0] = 0x90ab;

   as suggested by gemini-cli produces an invalid fix. The returned
   span from `GetArrayView<uint16_t>()` has **two** elements, even
   though it only has logical storage for a single uint16_t element.

   The various asserts in `GetArrayView()` do not catch these issues
   today, for various reasons. This will be separately addressed.

The proper way to do this is to allocate the array as a `uint8_t` and
also read it back as a `uint8_t`. Unfortunately, this means sprinkling
`reinterpret_cast<uint16_t>` in various places but there's no real
alternative in ipcz.

Original change's description:
> Gracefully handle overlapping driver handle ranges
>
> Test originally authored by gemini-cli; substantially rewritten
> afterwards to interoperate better with MockDriver.
>
> Bug: 483956252
> Change-Id: I6e45c05114986853bdc78f2f48b7c37350f11086
> Reviewed-on: https://chromium-review.googlesource.com/c/chromium/src/+/7677890
> Commit-Queue: Daniel Cheng <dcheng@chromium.org>
> Reviewed-by: Andrea Orru <andreaorru@chromium.org>
> Cr-Commit-Position: refs/heads/main@{#1601577}

Bug: 483956252
Change-Id: I3f307483a7a00008bfd5f7cafe973ded0bb1c662
Reviewed-on: https://chromium-review.googlesource.com/c/chromium/src/+/7685275
Commit-Queue: Andrea Orru <andreaorru@chromium.org>
Commit-Queue: Daniel Cheng <dcheng@chromium.org>
Reviewed-by: Andrea Orru <andreaorru@chromium.org>
Cr-Commit-Position: refs/heads/main@{#1602329}
NOKEYCHECK=True
GitOrigin-RevId: 3d1b1ed55f6106412a19ed64d3524172b8358351

[ipcz] Compact SequencedQueue storage before reallocation

SequencedQueue::Push() can grow `entries_` while retaining consumed
prefix slots below `front_index_`. In long-lived queues this dead
prefix can accumulate and increase reallocation overhead.

Teach `GrowWithCompaction()` to reclaim front slack when growth would
exceed capacity and `front_index_ > 0`. It compacts active entries to
index 0 (in-place when capacity permits, otherwise into a new buffer),
then grows to the required size.

When allocating a new buffer, preserve a doubling-style growth policy
based on effective capacity to avoid frequent reallocations.

Bug: 487357831
Change-Id: I5528f6447c752878728e7ef7776425ec033e9988
Reviewed-on: https://chromium-review.googlesource.com/c/chromium/src/+/7606181
Auto-Submit: Klaus Vampirelights <vampirelightsss@gmail.com>
Reviewed-by: Andrea Orru <andreaorru@chromium.org>
Reviewed-by: Daniel Cheng <dcheng@chromium.org>
Reviewed-by: Joe Mason <joenotcharles@google.com>
Commit-Queue: Klaus Vampirelights <vampirelightsss@gmail.com>
Cr-Commit-Position: refs/heads/main@{#1601145}
NOKEYCHECK=True
GitOrigin-RevId: 7a86f4f57fa0f760cb9b56466384505f3f120e08

ipcz: Fix a lock order inversion in Router::Deserialize

absl::Mutex's deadlock detector identified a lock order inversion
between `Router::mutex_` and `BufferPool::mutex_`. In debug builds,
absl::Mutex remembers the order in which every pair of locks has been
acquired. If it sees an order that violates a previously established
one, it flags a potential deadlock.

The BufferPool => Router order is established when handling arriving
buffers: `BufferPool::AddBlockBuffer` acquires the BufferPool lock,
retrieves pending callbacks, releases the lock, and executes the
callbacks. These callbacks may resume parcel processing (e.g.,
`Router::AcceptInboundParcel`), which subsequently acquires the
destination Router lock.

The violation (Router => BufferPool) can occur in `Router::Deserialize`.
This function acquires the new Router's `mutex_` and, while holding it,
calls `NodeLinkMemory::AdoptFragmentRefIfValid` to resolve the link
state fragment. This internal call acquires the BufferPool lock via
`BufferPool::GetFragment`.

This change resolves the inversion by refactoring `Router::Deserialize`
to resolve and validate the RouterLinkState fragment before acquiring
the `Router::mutex_`.

Bug: b:443193042, 420710333
Change-Id: Ic012c936b039664123a45ed80114e4cb88080c59
Reviewed-on: https://chromium-review.googlesource.com/c/chromium/src/+/7008801
Reviewed-by: Daniel Cheng <dcheng@chromium.org>
Commit-Queue: Andrea Orru <andreaorru@chromium.org>
Cr-Commit-Position: refs/heads/main@{#1526480}
NOKEYCHECK=True
GitOrigin-RevId: 4e77116847624e45614e74253bde16cb5ece6084

ipcz: Do not store early parcels when late

In the crrev.com/1473094 we introduced the concept of 'early parcels'.
It accumulates parcels on the Node that have nowhere to go. In other
words, they are not associated with any Router. Doing so helps in some
rare and involved scenarios where a DataPipe sends some metadata, but
the Route for it is not ready yet.

Queuing such parcels (without a route) brings unexpected consequences.
Some parcels may reference a mojo handle, so dropping them is important
to run the corresponding disconnect handler on the other side. Such
parcels may appear without a route because the corresponding Router was
explicitly deactivated/closed.

For example, parcel with pipe B is sent over pipe A, but the pipe A gets
concurrently closed on the receiving side (pending receiver is destroyed
and not bound). There is a racy window where pipe A is alive on the
sender side, but already dead on the receiver side. So the parcel
(carrying the pipe B) arrives and needs to be immediately destroyed.
Otherwise the disconnect handler for pipe B would not run.

The new workaround is to track all closed sublinks (via
deleted_sublinks_). Whenever a parcel arrives at a sublink without a
router, now it can distinguish the two cases (Router did not arrive yet
and Router was already closed).

Deleting sublinks is pretty common. To limit memory use, periodically
clear old sublink ids.

Determining when to clear a certain 'deleted sublink' is not trivial.
Ideally it should be removed when the Router on the other side of the
Node cannot send parcels any more (Router is closed on the peer) _and_
all parcels in the socket queues are processed since that Router on the
other side had been closed.

As a 'quick fix' clear deleted_sublinks_ that are older than 5 minutes.
Here we assume that in 5 minutes the current Node would be capable of
closing the peer and processing all incoming messages from the queues.
This assumption can be violated if one of the processes is frozen or is
starved of CPU resources for a long time (both of which can happen on
Android).

A more reliable heuristic could clear deleted_sublinks_ based on 'thread
time' in the current Node (duration of occupying a CPU core by the
current thread). However, thread time is more expensive and
difficult to read portably, and it still does not cover the state of the
peer Node, which could very well have all the same freezing and CPU
problems. So, it is probably not worth going with thread time.

For the Actually Reliable clearing signal from The Future we will
introduce a new Node feature+message that would allow to synchronize the
deleted state across two nodes. Another idea is to introduce reference
counting for sublink ids in shared memory (parcels in flight would
Acquire).

Skip-Clang-Tidy-Checks: modernize-use-equals-default
Bug: 410594534, 424438875, 425759818
Change-Id: I1ab00e9eddcfea8cd0db530746760145db0f049e
Reviewed-on: https://chromium-review.googlesource.com/c/chromium/src/+/6813649
Commit-Queue: Egor Pasko <pasko@chromium.org>
Reviewed-by: Daniel Cheng <dcheng@chromium.org>
Cr-Commit-Position: refs/heads/main@{#1505186}
NOKEYCHECK=True
GitOrigin-RevId: f2d40c44cc1382cd1a33f9f942ddad5ea300e107

ipcz: Synchronize Router::pending_puts_ like other members

Why is |pending_puts_| not protected by |mutex_| like all other members
of Router?

The member moved from Portal into Router when the two classes merged in
crrev.com/1163202. The commit looks almost purely mechanical, so it
likely did not grab any thread safety attention during review. However,
the class Portal at the time already advertised itself as "thread-safe
and manipulated directly by public ipcz API calls" while not
synchronizing access to |pending_puts_|.

Earlier synchronization was _removed_ from Portal in crrev.com/1161995
with this justification:

```
  Remove unnecessary Mutex from Portal. We don't need to synchronize
  on callers' behalf. (-8 bytes)
```

At the time it saved 8 bytes per Portal, but now with Router the lack of
synchronization does not save any memory. Router also claims being
thread safe. So, let's add this synchronization for consistency.

The new locking is short lived, and used only in BeginPut/EndPut, which
I believe is not called at a very high rate. This is good news because
we are unlikely to observe contention in real-world scenarios. But it is
also bad in a sense that this is unlikely to be a reason for flakiness
(see the bug).

A microbenchmark covering this would be good to have. I did not find
one.

Bug: 410594534
Change-Id: I1d91b5bf60561246b15ec57829c091d71470ad3a
Reviewed-on: https://chromium-review.googlesource.com/c/chromium/src/+/6619834
Reviewed-by: Daniel Cheng <dcheng@chromium.org>
Commit-Queue: Egor Pasko <pasko@chromium.org>
Cr-Commit-Position: refs/heads/main@{#1469894}
NOKEYCHECK=True
GitOrigin-RevId: a7a35e37b251765f777ee9391d1096360526ea8a

Generate ipcz message code with jinja

IPCZ message on-wire structs were generated using multiply included
headers and macros that had different meanings depending on the context
in which they were included. This works fine but presents difficulty
when debugging low-level message handling (as the macros elide line
information and don't uniquely present code for the debugger to step
through), and makes it difficult to change low-level message handling as
the macros are fragile and difficult to read.

This CL changes how the node_messages.h and node_messages.cc are
generated by introducing a parser for the current
node_messages_generator.h message definition file, and jinja templates
to write out the same classes, structs and types as the previous macros
did.

These files are now generated and checked in, with a PRESUBMIT.py added
to ensure that the files are updated if the source files or generating
code is changed. This allows ipcz to be built outside of its repository
of record without requiring people run python/jinja during their builds.

Regenerate the files by running:

    python3 . hird_party\\ipcz\\src\\ipcz
ode_messages.py --dir=. hird_party\\ipcz\\src\\ipcz

and validate the currently checked-in files by running:

    python3 . hird_party\\ipcz\\src\\ipcz
ode_messages.py --dir=. hird_party\\ipcz\\src\\ipcz\\ --check

Message generation is tested by the existing test facilities that were
written to validate the macro code generation.

The generated code is laid out in the same way as the macro generation
approach but formatted to be as close to `git cl format` output as
possible (given that some lines will wrap and some will not). A gist of
the previous macro generated code is available at
https://paste.googleplex.com/5069333698707456 for comparison.

Bug: 419853202
Change-Id: Ib436961f497bf6857b8fc85238c1d3adf61564fa
Reviewed-on: https://chromium-review.googlesource.com/c/chromium/src/+/6566903
Commit-Queue: Alex Gough <ajgo@chromium.org>
Reviewed-by: Daniel Cheng <dcheng@chromium.org>
Cr-Commit-Position: refs/heads/main@{#1466819}
NOKEYCHECK=True
GitOrigin-RevId: d61686cc5d1b5d63749b7f7f740d176533f93c2b

ipcz: Fix nullptr deref on Router deserialization

In general when deserializing a router, if we can't bind the encoded
outward link, that means the remote node is already disconnected and
we can immediately signal disconnection to the new router.

For some reason we were suppressing this behavior when the new router
also knows that it's peer is already closed. There doesn't appear to be
a good reason to do this, and in fact it can cause leaks.

But more to the point here, in the branch where we have an invalid link
AND know the peer is closed, we always attempt to dereference the
invalid (null) RouterLink.

This fixes the bug with a simplification: if we reach this point and the
link is null, we always treat it as a disconnection.

Fixed: 380938365
Change-Id: I1a952691b6e37692ab471c8945507abebfede6c2
Reviewed-on: https://chromium-review.googlesource.com/c/chromium/src/+/6051175
Reviewed-by: Alex Gough <ajgo@chromium.org>
Auto-Submit: Ken Rockot <rockot@google.com>
Commit-Queue: Alex Gough <ajgo@chromium.org>
Cr-Commit-Position: refs/heads/main@{#1388558}
NOKEYCHECK=True
GitOrigin-RevId: e728226e55ca5805980de942de16a1819239f0e7

ipcz: Support addition of new message versions

We're apparently already locked-in to the current internal node message
protocol (!) due to some macOS Chrome Updater usage requiring support
for version skew. We need to add new fields to some common messages.
This means it's time to make versioning usable.

Older ipcz versions could already tolerate messages from hypothetical
newer versions, but newer versions did not yet tolerate receiving
messages from older versions. This fixes that.

Message parameters are now accessed through explicit v0, v1, etc
accessors; which may be null for one or more versions above 0 if the
underlying message has insufficient parameter data.

This does not change the wire format of v0 for any messages, and once
this lands it will be possible to safely introduce new message versions
to extend existing node messages.

Bug: 332719403
Change-Id: I842e94e1cf29f4d5748bf465eed11f7c64206a04
Reviewed-on: https://chromium-review.googlesource.com/c/chromium/src/+/5428157
Reviewed-by: Daniel Cheng <dcheng@chromium.org>
Commit-Queue: Ken Rockot <rockot@google.com>
Cr-Commit-Position: refs/heads/main@{#1284139}
NOKEYCHECK=True
GitOrigin-RevId: 400cb3b5b3e32a94d666789b984b203b9ce52030

ipcz: Prepare for message versioning support

NOTE: This is a purely cosmetic change. No behavioral changes.

In order to support safe message versioning for internal ipcz node
messages, some message definition and usage syntax will change. To
wit:

1. All parameter blocks in a message definition must now be
  encapsulated by IPCZ_MSG_BEGIN_VERSION() and IPCZ_MSG_END_VERSION().
  This CL introduces and uses those macros, dropping the old
  IPCZ_MSG_VERSION() macro.

2. Parameters on a message are now accessed by a `v0` accessor rather
   than `params`. `v0` is never null but is still a pointer for
   consistency with future version syntax; i.e. when `v1`, `v2`, etc
   are generated, they may be null and callers will be responsible for
   accessing them safely.

The bulk of this CL is adapting `params()` call sites to `v0()`, and
restructuring the message generators. Minimal changes are made to the
message macros themselves to support migrating code to the new syntax.

Bug: 332719403
Change-Id: I00d07f3484444dff4f6cc2dd3ba6e06b1332ab7d
Reviewed-on: https://chromium-review.googlesource.com/c/chromium/src/+/5428852
Reviewed-by: Daniel Cheng <dcheng@chromium.org>
Commit-Queue: Ken Rockot <rockot@google.com>
Cr-Commit-Position: refs/heads/main@{#1283953}
NOKEYCHECK=True
GitOrigin-RevId: a8a9bf22cde576139944d460b4d44110f4d30105
"
