It replaces the specific 'audit' flag that is used to tell security_capable whether it should log an audit message for the given capability check. The reason for generalizing this flag passing is so we can add an additional flag that signifies whether security_capable is being called by a setid syscall (which is needed by the proposed SafeSetID LSM). Reason for BACKPORT label: aa_capable() function in security/apparmor/capability.c had slightly different logical operator in 4.14. vs latest upstream code. There is no logical difference between the two. Also, change code in security/chromiumos/lsm.c to take advantage of opts arg in security_capable. This allows to refrain from checking the current syscall number when seeing if security_capable is being called from a setid syscall in the chromiumos LSM. This is done in a way that is backwards compatible on the AP side, in order to enable previous kernels to continue to work (albeit at a loss of new functionality) with up-to-date ECs. Since clients are not required to use a FLUSH when changing ODR, it is possible for the sensor ring to get in a state where it is spreading based on out-of-date delay information, which we observed leading to spreading of overly large intervals, and thus too far into the future. This patch ameliorates that by causing an ODR change to implicitly flush the batching history. Previously, we have `restorecon -R -D /var` to fixing SELinux file labels under /var upon boot. But `-D` options makes it only tries to fix when the policy has changed, for example, policy upgrades along with OTA. Recreated /var/lib won't be "fixed" upon any reboot unless the policy has changed. The major reason for not to attempt relabelling everytime is recursive relabelling takes time, and this will slow down Chrome OS boot process. Also, relabelling shouldn't be necessary unless the policy has changed if everything is functioning well. moblab-generic-vm-paladin provision_AutoUpdate has encourterd the situation that after AutoUpdate, files under /var/lib including /var/lib itself is not correctly labeled, because there's no policy upgrade. restorecon simply skips everything to not to slow down boot process with a recursive relabelling, which does nothing most of the time. crrev.com/c/1450654 provides an emergency workaround "fix" like `restorecon -R -D /var/*` which expands to `retorecon -R -D /var/lib /var/cache /var/log ...`, since the last policy is stored at the xattr of the specified directory inode, recreated /var/lib will be treated as relabeling needed since no last policy hash is stored at /var/lib, but only at /var. type_transistion will be the long term fix to let kernel correctly recreate the directory with correct label, and leaving `restorecon -R -D /var` for policy upgrades, or first policy introduction purpose only. Each iteration of our read/write loops can theoretically take 20ms (two 10ms timeout loops), and this loop can be run an unbounded number of times while holding the spinlock -- dependent on the request size given by the caller. As of commit 39501ea64116 ("ath10k: download firmware via diag Copy Engine for QCA6174 and QCA9377."), we transfer large chunks of firmware memory using this mechanism. With large enough firmware segments, this becomes an exceedingly long period for disabling soft IRQs. For example, with a 500KiB firmware segment, in testing QCA6174A, I see 200 loop iterations of about 50-100us each, which can total about 10-20ms. In reality, we don't really need to block softirqs for this duration. The DIAG CE is only used in polling mode, and we only need to hold ce_lock to make sure any CE bookkeeping is done without screwing up another CE. Otherwise, we only need to ensure exclusion between ath10k_pci_diag_{read,write}_mem() contexts. This patch moves to use fine-grained locking for the shared ce_lock, while adding a new mutex just to ensure mutual exclusion of diag read/write operations. Tested on QCA6174A, firmware version WLAN.RM.4.4.1-00132-QCARMSWPZ-1. This will take place on each boot, but it should have minimal overhead if the block device size has not changed (less than 10 ms) and should not take a significant amount of time even when actually resizing, since this will always be expanding into new free space, which doesn't require any shuffling of existing data (growing a 1 GB FS to 2 GB takes less than 100 ms on my test system). Note that this will only work for expanding the disk image; it is not safe to shrink the disk image unless the filesystem is shrunk first, which will never happen in this code path due to the use of 'max' as the size specifier. The approach taken here is enough to allow the virtual block device image to be resized to let the VM consume newly-available free space that wasn't available at VM creation time. Shrinking the VM disk image would need to issue a BTRFS resize operation with an absolute size specified, followed by shrinking the disk image file to that size. However, since we use a sparse backing file for the stateful disk image, free space should already be reclaimed from the VM even if the logical disk size is larger than the available space. Tested by manually expanding the stateful disk image with truncate(1) and restarting the VM, observing the change in filesystem size. For example, during the hardware restart, during off channel operations, when initiating CSA(upon detecting a radar on the DFS channel), etc. The TX queue stop/start logic in mac80211 works well in stopping the TX when drivers make use of netdev queues, i.e, when Qdiscs in network layer take care of traffic scheduling. Since the devices implementing wake_tx_queue can run without Qdiscs, packets will be handed to mac80211 directly without queueing them in the netdev queues. Also, mac80211 does not invoke any of the netif_stop_*/netif_wake_* APIs if wake_tx_queue is implemented. Since the queues are not stopped in this case, transmissions can continue and this will impact negatively on the operation of the wireless device. For example, During hardware restart, we stop the netdev queues so that packets are not sent to the driver. Since ath10k implements wake_tx_queue, TX queues will not be stopped and packets might reach the hardware while it is restarting; this can make hardware unresponsive and the only possible option for recovery is to reboot the entire system. There is another problem to this, it is observed that the packets were sent on the DFS channel for a prolonged duration after radar detection impacting the channel closing time. We can still invoke netif stop/wake APIs when wake_tx_queue is implemented but this could lead to packet drops in network layer; adding stop/start logic for software TXQs in mac80211 instead makes more sense; the change proposed adds the same in mac80211.
