Prefer string formatting to concatenating format arguments together, to avoid work at the log site.

That is, prefer this:

logger.atInfo().log("processing: %s", request);

to this, which calls request.toString() even if INFO logging is disabled:

logger.atInfo().log("processing: " + request);
