For an
external s1 that slice is a raw pointer into the resource with no tagged
owner (NewOffHeapConstSlice stores kZeroBitPattern), so it keeps nothing
alive. Converting s2 can flatten it, and the allocation in
StringSlowFlatten can collect s1 and dispose its resource, leaving the
slice dangling for the subsequent search.

Flatten both strings up front instead.
[turboshaft] Fix localeCompare inline reading past an externalized

.. string

The inlined localeCompare fast path skipped its SeqOneByteString check
when an operand was an internalized string constant. The reasoning was
that internalized strings are never thinned. True, but not enough: an
internalized string can still be externalized in place. The map changes,
the object shrinks to 20 bytes, and String::length keeps its old value.
Code compiled earlier does not know, and keeps reading characters out of
the object body. A 32-character constant read up to 24 bytes past the
end.

So always check at runtime. There is no shape we can trust to hold,
because the check exists precisely to catch the shape changing.

Doing that naively would cost what the skip was buying, so check the map
pointer instead of loading the instance type out of the map. Under
static roots the SeqOneByteString maps are a contiguous range, so this
is a range compare plus one encoding-bit test, with no dependent load.

The set has three maps: sequential, internalized and shared one-byte.
Accepting all three matters. A constant that is later internalized or
shared in place lands on a sibling map with the same layout, and the
inline can still read it. Comparing against a single map would bail
there, and since no deopt happens the code would keep bailing forever.

We still skip the whole inline for a constant whose map is outside the
set, which no transition can enter.

Fixed: 537604528
Change-Id: I0f7d2ea7b5b1e79854d9849f125f2a250103a2d2
Reviewed-on: https://chromium-review.googlesource.com/c/v8/v8/+/8159982
Commit-Queue: Jakob Linke <jgruber@chromium.org>
Reviewed-by: Darius Mercadier <dmercadier@chromium.org>
Auto-Submit: Jakob Linke <jgruber@chromium.org>
Cr-Commit-Position: refs/heads/main@{#108968}

Reland "[defer-import-eval] Consider the whole SCC when checking sync readiness"

This is a reland of commit 34dc83ecd63abcbc8f4ebfab536c52d2ee55ed19

Original change's description:
> [defer-import-eval] Consider the whole SCC when checking sync readiness
>
> Touching a deferred namespace forces synchronous evaluation of the
> deferred module. To decide whether that is allowed,
> `ReadyForSyncExecution` and `GatherAsynchronousTransitiveDependencies`
> only inspected the status of each individual module. However, in a
> cycle containing top-level await, a module can already be kEvaluated
> while its cycle root is still kEvaluatingAsync. Both functions would
> then wrongly treat the dependency graph as settled: the deferred
> module was evaluated synchronously while its dependency's cycle was
> still waiting to finish, producing a pending (instead of fulfilled)
> evaluation promise and failing a check in
> JSDeferredModuleNamespace::EvaluateModuleSync.
>
> In this change we introduce `IsModuleSCCEvaluated`, which considers a
> module settled only when its cycle root reached kEvaluated (or
> kErrored), and use it in `ReadyForSyncExecution` and
> `GatherAsynchronousTransitiveDependencies`. Synchronous evaluation of
> the deferred module now only proceeds once the whole strongly-connected
> component has settled.
>
> This is the engine counterpart of the spec issue
> https://github.com/tc39/proposal-defer-import-eval/issues/84
> (assertion failure on EvaluateModuleSync), which is still open and
> will be discussed in the July 2026 plenary.
>
> The regression test asserts the module evaluation order: the async
> cycle {A, B} must fully settle before nsD.z triggers the deferred
> evaluation of D.
>
> In addition to that, this change includes the fix for the bug [1] by
> removing the early return on `GatherAsynchronousTransitiveDependencies`
> when `module.[[Status]]` is `kEvaluatingAsync`.
>
> [1] - https://issues.chromium.org/issues/530457806
>
> Fixed: 525234471
> Bug: 530457806
> Change-Id: Icabca55863160980366bda08553d189db863c915
> Reviewed-on: https://chromium-review.googlesource.com/c/v8/v8/+/8039264
> Reviewed-by: Marja Hölttä <marja@chromium.org>
> Reviewed-by: Olivier Flückiger <olivf@chromium.org>
> Commit-Queue: Marja Hölttä <marja@chromium.org>
> Cr-Commit-Position: refs/heads/main@{#108828}

Bug: 530457806
Change-Id: I1d9e8756809942b5e5b65001d42d43cd57c3bec4
Reviewed-on: https://chromium-review.googlesource.com/c/v8/v8/+/8175723
Reviewed-by: Olivier Flückiger <olivf@chromium.org>
Reviewed-by: Marja Hölttä <marja@chromium.org>
Commit-Queue: Caio Lima <caiolima@igalia.com>
Cr-Commit-Position: refs/heads/main@{#108960}
"

Because single-block loops
have no intervening basic blocks between PreProcessBasicBlock and
PostProcessBasicBlock, old_phis_ is never cleared after phi reuse.

When PostProcessBasicBlock executes, swapping old_phis_ into
*prev_header_phis->second swapped the non-empty old_phis_ back into
*prev_header_phis->second, violating the empty check.

This change moves *prev_header_phis->second into old_phis_ and explicitly
clears *prev_header_phis->second, ensuring old_phis_ cleanly receives the
current iteration phis and *prev_header_phis->second is left empty.

CONV=18027655-28fd-4e2d-8ebe-6ba9a3add43b
TAG=agy

Bug: 540324228
Change-Id: I7a4108b85b553f2bf3c79078899dea910b38235a
Reviewed-on: https://chromium-review.googlesource.com/c/v8/v8/+/8174804
Reviewed-by: Victor Gomes <victorgomes@chromium.org>
Auto-Submit: Darius Mercadier <dmercadier@chromium.org>
Commit-Queue: Victor Gomes <victorgomes@chromium.org>
Cr-Commit-Position: refs/heads/main@{#108955}

[runtime] Fast-path Array.prototype.indexOf on dictionary elements

Array.prototype.indexOf on a dictionary-elements receiver probes every
index in [fromIndex, length) via NumberDictionary::FindEntry, so it is
O(length) even when the backing store holds only a handful of entries.
The built-in includes already avoids this: IncludesValueFastPath
iterates the dictionary's entries directly (O(entries)). indexOf had no
equivalent, so e.g. a.indexOf(x) on a 3-entry array of length 1e6 costs
~3.5ms per call.

Add DictionaryElementsAccessor::IndexOfValueFastPath, mirroring the
includes fast path. It iterates the NumberDictionary entries under a
DisallowGarbageCollection scope, skips holes and out-of-range keys, and
tracks the smallest in-range index whose value StrictEquals the search
term -- which is exactly indexOf's result, since indexOf skips holes
(HasProperty gates the Get) and returns the lowest matching index. If a
traversed entry is an accessor the fast path bails to the existing slow
loop, so getters are never observed out of order.

Semantics are unchanged; only dictionary-elements receivers with no
accessor elements take the new path. Measured on x64 (V8 15.2), a
3-entry dictionary array of length 1e6:

  indexOf miss        ~3.5ms   -> 50.1ns   (~70000x)
  indexOf hit @1e6    ~3.5ms   -> 51.5ns
  indexOf hit @1000   3237.8ns -> 48.8ns
  includes (control)  28.7ns   -> 28.4ns   (unchanged)

Packed fast-array indexOf is unchanged (within run-to-run noise).
[turbolev] escape analysis: do not discard backedge snapshots

In the initial implementation of Escape Analysis, loops were revisited
at most once, and discarding backedge snapshots was needed to ensure
that inner loops could be re-revisited when their outer loops where
revisited.

Since then, we've changed this behavior and loops can be visited
arbitrarily many times, so resetting the backedge snapshots doesn't
make sense anymore.

Additionally, we're now reusing old Phis from previous iterations,
and if we clear the backedge snapshot, then we only end up with 2
predecessors when merging but old Phis have 3 inputs, which creates an
annoying mismatch.

Bug: 529841774
Change-Id: I8c7a0164fb860731e3a08e6dc0475bcfbe79d88b
Fixed: 538666333
Reviewed-on: https://chromium-review.googlesource.com/c/v8/v8/+/8154060
Reviewed-by: Victor Gomes <victorgomes@chromium.org>
Commit-Queue: Darius Mercadier <dmercadier@chromium.org>
Auto-Submit: Darius Mercadier <dmercadier@chromium.org>
Cr-Commit-Position: refs/heads/main@{#108904}

[turbolev] escape analysis: fix wrong DCHECK about loop revisits

Note that it's important to revisit the current loop if backedge_alloc
escapes. Consider for instance:

    LOOP:
      some_phi = Phi(...)
      a = LoadTaggedField(o, offset=12)
      ...
      foo(some_phi)
      ...
      some_phi.backedge = o

In this case, if we initially replaced LoadTaggedField with whatever
value o[12] holded initially, then whatever we did with {a} is now
wrong this {o} escapes through some_phi's backedge which is then
passed to a function call to foo, which could easily mutate {o}'s
fields.

Bug: 529841774
Change-Id: I5cf5fb7e60f1eb7ff919018965246c49bd74a655
Fixed: 539464276
Reviewed-on: https://chromium-review.googlesource.com/c/v8/v8/+/8154581
Auto-Submit: Darius Mercadier <dmercadier@chromium.org>
Reviewed-by: Victor Gomes <victorgomes@chromium.org>
Commit-Queue: Victor Gomes <victorgomes@chromium.org>
Cr-Commit-Position: refs/heads/main@{#108903}
"
