Build the update status string at the client side. Windows machine can be configured in a way such at user's preferred language is different from the system preferred language. Thus it's better to build the UI strings in the client process context (which runs as the console user) than the service process context (which runs as the system user). To check out the source code locally, don't use git clone! Instead, follow the instructions on how to get the code.

For historical reasons, there are some small top level directories. Now the guidance is that new top level directories are for product (e.g. Chrome, Android WebView, Ash). Even if these products have multiple executables, the code should be in subdirectories of the product.
