The cros-rust eclass sets up a local directory-based cargo registry in each board's sysroot. Each rust crate should correspond to one portage package in the tree. Dependencies of the crate should be declared as dependencies of the portage package so that portage can handle all dependency resolution as normal. Crates are published into a board's directory registry by calling `cros-rust_publish <name> <version>`. Most ebuilds will not need to do this as this is the default implementation of src_install() exported by the cros-rust eclass. The eclass takes care of packaging and installing the crate in a way that cargo understands. However, only crate sources are published. Any compile errors will not be caught until some downstream package actually tries to use the published crate. Some crates simply need to exist in the registry even if they will never actually be used during compile time. Examples include dev-dependencies or OS-specific crates like winapi and fuchsia-zircon. Ebuilds for these crates should set CROS_RUST_EMPTY_CRATE=1 before inheriting the cros-rust eclass. The eclass will then generate a minimal Cargo.toml and an empty lib.rs to be installed into the registry. The empty lib.rs file ensures that any package that tries to use the crate will see compile errors because the crate is empty. Additionally, the eclass provides 3 wrappers around cargo that ebuilds should use when they need to invoke cargo: the ecargo helper simply wraps cargo while the ecargo_build and ecargo_test helpers wrap `cargo build` and `cargo test` invocations by setting the proper architecture for the target. Ebuilds that need to actually compile binaries or run tests should use these wrappers in the appropriate phase function. The feature is controlled by CONFIG_MM_METRICS, and is not configured by default. The metrics are provided to userspace via /sys/kernel/debug/mm_metrics/{swap_refault, swap_latency,reclaim_latency}. These files are histograms and they are disabled by default. To enable them, write whitespace-separated strictly-increasing list of upper bounds to the files (see examples below). The lower bound of the first bucket is always zero, and the upper bound of the last bucket is always U64_MAX, which can be omitted when writing the files. Writing the upper bounds again frees old buckets and creates new ones. Writing "clear" clears existing counts. Writing "disable" stops counting and frees histograms. The max number of buckets is 100. We squeeze swapout timestamp into PTE. This eliminates the need for extra memory but limits the largest timestamp value we can store. On arm64 and x86_86 without L1TF bug, we use 25 bits for the timestamp and the rest for swap offset. Swap refault distance is measured in seconds so the timestamp won't exceed 2^25 seconds with one year of uptime. When it does, we stop timestamping pages at swapout, and those pages won't be counted at swappin. The max supported size of swapfile is reduced from 2^50*4KB to 2^25*4KB (128G). On 32-bit CPU or x86_64 with L1TF bug, there isn't enough space in PTE for the timestamp. /sys/kernel/debug/mm_metrics/swap_refault isn't available in this case. Swap read latency and direct reclaim latency are measured in nanosecond. Here are some examples: # cat /sys/kernel/debug/mm_metrics/reclaim_latency disabled # seq 100 100 1000 >/sys/kernel/debug/mm_metrics/reclaim_latency # cat /sys/kernel/debug/mm_metrics/reclaim_latency 0-100 0 101-200 0 201-300 0 301-400 0 401-500 0 501-600 0 601-700 0 701-800 0 801-900 0 901-1000 0 1001-18446744073709551615 43324 # echo clear >/sys/kernel/debug/mm_metrics/reclaim_latency 0-100 0 101-200 0 201-300 0 301-400 0 401-500 0 501-600 0 601-700 0 701-800 0 801-900 0 901-1000 0 1001-18446744073709551615 0 # echo disable >/sys/kernel/debug/mm_metrics/reclaim_latency # cat /sys/kernel/debug/mm_metrics/reclaim_latency disabled BUG=b:119687058 TEST=Enabled the metrics and checked the debugfs files Change-Id: Ibc9b460d30f6770ce179cb6718d8c8b027caead1 Signed-off-by: Yu Zhao <yuzhao@google.com> Reviewed-on: https://chromium-review.googlesource.com/1333053 Commit-Ready: ChromeOS CL Exonerator Bot <chromiumos-cl-exonerator@appspot.gserviceaccount.com> Tested-by: Yu Zhao <yuzhao@chromium.org> Reviewed-by: Vovo Yang <vovoy@chromium.org> Reviewed-by: Yu Zhao <yuzhao@chromium.org> " fail_count="1" gerrit_number="1333053" owner_email="yuzhao@chromium.org" pass_count="0" patch_number="10" project="chromiumos/third_party/kernel" project_url="https://chromium-review.googlesource.com/chromiumos/third_party/kernel" ref="refs/changes/53/1333053/10" remote="cros" total_fail_count="2"/><pending_commit branch="master" change_id="I9891c2bd564649aef5d9f67f77344305e42a62a5" commit="52d8e970dbb1a86f3c3d02ccce68d74b8b31c8c7" commit_message="octopus: Change yorp num-mic to 2. Currently ath10k driver write target PCIe config flags to disallow HW enter into L1, this leads some HW modules are still powered up even when both system PCIe RC and QCA6174A/QCA9377 endpoint decides to enter into L1 or L1SS. This cause ~12 mA power drain of bottom power consumption for all scenarios. Fix this issue by removing the drive code to write PCIe config flags. Tested with QCA6174 PCI with firmware WLAN.RM.4.4.1-00109-QCARMSWPZ-1, but this will also affect QCA9377 PCI. It's not a regression with new firmware releases. Machine drivers statically define a number of DAI links that currently cannot be changed or removed by topology. This means PCMs and platform components cannot be changed by topology at runtime AND machine drivers are tightly coupled to topology. This patch allows topology to override the machine driver DAI link config in order to reuse machine drivers with different topologies and platform components. The patch supports :- 1) create new FE PCMs with a topology defined PCM ID. 2) destroy existing static FE PCMs 3) change the platform component driver. 4) assign any new HW params fixups. 5) assign a new card name prefix to differentiate this topology to userspace. The patch requires no changes to the machine drivers, but does add some platform component flags that the platform component driver can assign before loading topologies.
