This is because board_hibernate gets called from chipset task and so control never gets to chipset_do_shutdown. This resulted in two problems: 1. Unnecessary power consumption in PSL mode on different rails. 2. Failure to wake from PSL using normal wake sources. The right thing to do when hibernating is to ensure that the chipset power rails are properly brought down. Thus, this change makes a call to chipset_do_shutdown if board_hibernate is called from within chipset task which pulls down the chipset rails and thus ensures proper power rail state before EC enters PSL hibernate. BUG=b:113132913 BRANCH=None TEST=Verified: 1. Enter PSL by running hibernate on EC console. EC enters hibernate properly and wakes using power button. 2. Enter PSL by running following commands on AP console: ectool reboot_ec hibernate at-shutdown poweroff EC enters hibernate properly and wakes using power button. This patch changes arc-networkd child to exit more gracefully when some environment conditions force it to exit (no ARC container, no parent...) Previously arc-networkd would fail an assert, which causes noise in the logs and can hide root causes of the problem. More specifically three asserts / LOG(FATAL) are changed: - When arc-networkd child is started, if it fails its setsid call it just exit. This can happen if the parent has already exited due to the environment being not right. - When the container fails to start in time, arc-netword child logs an error and quit. - When arc-networkd child receives an invalid protobuf message, it logs an error and continue looping. This makes it more robust against external malicious messages as well. In addition arc-networkd manager parent process will now gracefully exit if its child exits. This causes us to try low priority scans on drivers that never advertised this feature. Contrary to the original commit message, this does *not* help -- it is actively harmful, because in the end we just get back -EOPNOTSUPP and the scan is skipped entirely. This causes brcmfmac (e.g., minnie) and ath10k to fail network_WiFi_BgscanBackoff.wifi_bgscan_backoff and other tests, and it basically neuters any attempt at background scans. Instead, we should: (a) retain the original supplicant logic, that we only ask the driver for a low priority scan when it advertises support for it (if it doesn't support it, we just initiate "normal" background scans) and (b) fix any drivers that need this support to actually advertise NL80211_FEATURE_LOW_PRIORITY_SCAN Note: some firmwares implement scanning behavior such that they back off automatically if there is data traffic, and so NL80211_FEATURE_LOW_PRIORITY_SCAN is not necessarily a driver requirement. Also note: I've grepped through all our Wifi drivers for NL80211_SCAN_FLAG_LOW_PRIORITY and NL80211_FEATURE_LOW_PRIORITY_SCAN, and I have found no such driver that honors NL80211_SCAN_FLAG_LOW_PRIORITY but doesn't also advertise NL80211_FEATURE_LOW_PRIORITY_SCAN. So again, I don't think the original commit is doing anything useful for us. On the other hand, it *is* inspiring silly changes like this Linux commit: commit d9f5725fb00b87f99d6fc876d27f7d54ab351669 Author: Amitkumar Karwar <akarwar@marvell.com> Date: Tue Mar 22 12:09:56 2016 +0800 mwifiex: advertise low priority scan feature ...
